Did the Republican National Committee sue Clark County to require its poll workers to disclose their political affiliations?
The Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit Sept. 20, 2022 alleging Clark County failed to comply with a public records request seeking information about the state’s poll workers for the 2022 general election. Nevada election law states that poll workers cannot all be part of the same political party.
The request was formally denied by Clark County, citing privacy concerns and election security. Prior to the lawsuit, the RNC agreed only its attorneys would see the information. After denying the request, Clark County Public Information Administrator Dan Kulin said that the decision was made to protect poll workers from harassment. The RNC contends that poll workers' names and party affiliations are not confidential or beyond public inspection seeing as they are made available to the public. Clark county has since reached a compromise with the RNC to release information about the political affiliation of their poll workers without disclosing their names.
