Have Wisconsin housing prices increased nearly 30% since Joe Biden became president?
The median sale price of a Wisconsin house has trended upward under President Joe Biden.
Median refers to midpoint, meaning half of homes sold above the median price, half below.
Wisconsin Realtors Association figures show a 26% increase in the median price from January 2021, when Biden’s term began, to January 2024 — $210,000 to $265,000; and a 28% increase from May 2021 to May 2024 — $246,832 to $315,500 — using the latest figures available.
At a June 18, 2024, rally for former President Donald Trump in Racine, Wisconsin, former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker suggested the increase was 50%. But that mixed time periods, comparing January 2021 with May 2024. Housing prices fluctuate throughout the year.
The nonpartisan Wisconsin Policy Forum reported in March 2024 that from 2017 to 2022, which overlaps the Trump and Biden presidencies, the median home price rose 53% in Wisconsin while the median household income rose 20%.
