Has the race for Wisconsin Secretary of State been called yet?

By Hope Karnopp
NO

The Wisconsin Secretary of State race between Democratic incumbent Doug La Follette and Republican challenger Amy Loudenbeck has not been called.

As of Nov. 10, La Follette led Loudenbeck 48.3% to 48% with 99% of the votes counted, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

La Follette had 1,268,527 votes and Loudenbeck had 1,260,867 — a gap of just 7,660 votes or 0.3% of the vote total.

News outlets including the Associated Press, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and New York Times have not yet called the race as of Nov. 14.

In a Facebook update, Loudenbeck said she and her team will "decide what steps to take once all of the votes have been counted."

Loudenbeck could request a recount if the margin remains at or below 1%.

In a Wednesday statement to Wisconsin Public Radio, La Follette said his campaign was "confident" about his lead but would trust the recount process.
