Did Democrats in the Nevada Assembly win a supermajority of seats while losing the popular vote?

Democrats in the Nevada Assembly won 28 of the 42 seats (67%, a supermajority) in the 2022 general election while receiving 41% of the popular vote in Assembly races versus 56% for Republicans.

This disparity is mostly explained by the fact that Democrats chose not to compete in seven Assembly races they deemed non-competitive, while Republicans competed in all races. The vote count in these seven races favored Republicans over Democrats by 161,075 to 0. This vote differential exceeds the Republicans’ popular vote margin by nearly 22,000 votes.

In the Nevada Senate, Republicans won eight of the 21 seats, preventing a Democratic supermajority in that house by just one seat.
