Was $20,000 spent on new curtains for Attorney General Aaron Ford’s office?

yes

The clerk of the Board of Examiners, which consists of the governor, secretary of state and attorney general, approved a nearly $20,000 contract to fabricate and install replacement drapes in the attorney general’s office and conference room in 2025.

The contract from the Public Works Division noted that existing drapery, sheers and hardware had not been upgraded for more than 30 years. The board’s clerk approved it because contracts below $100,000 do not come before the full board for consideration.

The ex officio clerk of the board is within the Governor’s Finance Office.

The expense came two years after the Legislature approved $811,000 for furniture for the attorney general and his staff, along with $571,000 for the governor’s office.

“The major driving force behind purchasing office furniture was proper space utilization and office spaces to efficiently serve our constituents,” Wilfred Lewis, who leads the state’s public works division, wrote in a May 21 email. He later added in a follow-up email that the Nevada Attorney General’s Office’s previous furniture was in “very poor condition and disarray.”

Lewis noted that appropriated funds for furniture in the 2023 and 2025 legislative sessions aimed to purchase furniture for workers returning to the office after working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
