Fact Brief: Did the City of Hollister deploy law enforcement robots in May 2026?
While the city of Hollister did deploy robots, they are not being used for law enforcement.
In May 2026, the city of Hollister partnered with consulting firm Kimley-Horn to conduct an assessment of Hollister’s public sidewalks by implementing Daxbot robotic assessment devices, Dax ADA Robots. The project is funded by the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program.
The robots will gather data from high-priority sidewalk corridors within the city to ensure Americans with Disabilities Act standards are met.
According to Daxbot, the robots take accessibility measurements and capture data for sidewalks, curb ramps and related pedestrian facilities “by identifying sidewalk cracks, uplifts, and surface defects that manual assessments miss.”
These measurements and data, which could take several weeks to months to collect, will create a map of sidewalk conditions in Hollister to help keep pedestrian pathways within the city accessible and safe.
