Is the Iran war driving up gas prices in Nevada?
Economists, researchers and think tanks have shown that the war in Iran has driven up the cost of U.S. gasoline.
Though more than half of oil and petroleum products imported into the U.S. come from Canada, the war still affects gas prices at home.
Fossil fuels are the world’s most widely traded commodity. Researchers at the Bush Center noted that gasoline, jet fuel, diesel and the global market are interconnected, and supply issues in one part of the world affect prices in the U.S.
Economists interviewed by The Nevada Independent also said that, as far as gasoline prices in the Silver State go, there’s little a governor or other entity can do to change national factors driving them.
Though Nevada’s gas supplies rely heavily on California, the most Gov. Joe Lombardo (R) could do when the neighboring state was weighing emission policy changes was write a letter.
