Was a Canadian firefighter putting out a fire in Ukraine?

By Marlo Lee
NO

The picture in question shows a Ukrainian firefighter wearing donated firefighter gear from Edmonton, Canada.

The social media post took a satirical slant on a screen grab from a CNN news report, saying, "Things are getting so bad in Ukraine that Edmonton firefighters are on the scene."

Kevin Royle, project director for the Edmonton group Firefighter Aid Ukraine, confirmed the bunker gear was provided by his group, which has been donating equipment to Ukraine for nearly a decade now.

Royle told Canadian news website CityNews, "It's unfortunate it's being used because of the conflict, but it's impressive to see it there."
