Do most Nevadans oppose gay marriage?

A strong majority of Nevadans support gay marriage.

The Human Rights Campaign reported that in a recent poll, 72% of respondents from Nevada said they support allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally.

According to the 2017 American Values Atlas, a project of the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute, a poll of 832 Nevadans (with an issue subsample of 491) demonstrated strong support for nondiscrimination protections for LGBT individuals at 73%.

The Marriage Regardless of Gender Amendment was on the ballot in Nevada as a constitutional amendment on Nov. 3, 2020. It recognized marriage between two people, regardless of gender, and passed with 62% of the vote, making Nevada the first state to enshrine the right to marriage regardless of gender in its Constitution.
