Is Nevada one of the fastest-growing states in the country?
Nevada is among the fastest-growing U.S. states, ranking sixth in the nation by percentage of growth, the latest population estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau in December 2024 show.
The Silver State’s population grew from 3,214,363 in July 2023 to 3,267,467 in July 2024, reflecting a 1.7% increase, according to the Census.
Nevada’s growth ranked the state at No. 6 behind Washington, D.C., at 2.2%, Florida at 2%, Texas at 1.8%, Utah at 1.8% and South Carolina at 1.7%. In the West alone, Nevada was the second fastest-growing state after Utah, the Census Bureau said.
The 1.7% increase marks Nevada’s fastest rate of population growth since July 2019, when the state was the second fastest-growing after Idaho. Domestic migration, or people moving from other states, was the “primary driver of growth” in both states at that time, the Census Bureau said.
