Has Steve Sisolak raised taxes as governor of Nevada?

yes

During his four years in office, Steve Sisolak has signed several bills that raised taxes or fees. These include measures raising taxes on vaping products, higher fees for taxicab operators and marriage licenses, and a new tax on gold and silver mining revenue. The Nevada Constitution requires that any tax increase be approved by a two-thirds vote of the state Legislature.

In 2019, state lawmakers passed bills extending a payroll tax and $1 DMV fee that otherwise would have expired, but without a two-thirds majority vote. The Nevada Supreme Court ruled in 2021 that this constituted a tax increase, and ordered that the laws extending the tax increases were unconstitutional.

In his 2022 re-election bid, Sisolak’s campaign has said the governor did not raise taxes on “everyday” Nevadans.
