Fact Brief: Is there a plan for an urban village on Communications Hill?

Communications Hill will eventually be the home to a residential neighborhood and retail park. The Communications Hill project was approved by the City Council in 1992, as part of the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan, and has been in ongoing development. The hilltop is viewed as valuable real estate for development going back to the 1980s, thanks to its proximity to freeways, Caltrain, VTA and downtown San Jose.

When completed, the neighborhood will have 2,200 residential homes, including single-family and multi-family housing, over more than 67,000 square feet. It will also include 1.44 million square feet of industrial park, along with parks, playfields and open space.
