Does Mandela Barnes support expanding the U.S. Supreme Court?

no

While Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mandela Barnes supports U.S. Supreme Court "reforms," he has not yet taken a stance on adding more justices to the court.

Barnes reiterated that position in September during an interview with the Progressive Change Campaign Committee.

In June, a spokesperson for Barnes said the lieutenant governor was "open to the conversation" regarding Supreme Court expansion, which some Democrats have proposed in the wake of the court's decision overturning abortion rights.

Barnes has staked his position on other changes on the high court, including creating a code of ethics and term limits for Supreme Court justices.

However, Barnes' "Plan for Democracy" outlined on his campaign website does not include any numerical changes to the Supreme Court.
