Does Kamala Harris plan to close all Pregnancy Resource Centers if she is elected president?

By Carmela Guaglianone
NO

Vice President Kamala Harris has not announced a plan to shut down all Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) if she wins the presidency, though she does have a history of supporting efforts to regulate the centers.

PRCs, also known as Crisis Pregnancy Centers, are often religiously-affiliated organizations that offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and other resources to pregnant individuals. Most are not licensed medical facilities, however, and have been promoted by conservative groups as alternatives for women who may have otherwise sought an abortion.

When Harris served as California’s Attorney General, she co-sponsored a now-overturned law that required PRCs to advertise information on resources through which pregnant individuals could access abortions. As vice president, Harris commended the efforts of attorneys general working to regulate the centers.
