Former President Donald Trump is not participating in Nevada’s state-run Republican presidential primary, after he decided to instead run in the Nevada Republican Party’s presidential caucus.
The Nevada GOP has set rules for the Feb. 8 caucus that bar candidates from running in both the caucus and primary. The party will allocate the state’s 26 Republican delegates based on the results of the caucus. Those rules led Trump and other high-profile candidates — including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy — to file only for the caucus and skip the primary held two days earlier on Feb. 6.
Trump’s decision means he will not appear on the mail ballots for the primary sent to nearly all Republican voters in Nevada.
