Did the Iowa State Fair create a logo design with a racy silhouette?

By Sarah Thompson
NO

A poster on social media copied a logo with a tall, round-topped silo flanked by two bundles of hay, commenting, "REALLY IOWA? THIS WAS THE BEST DESIGN YOU COULD COME UP WITH?"

But this alleged, suggestive state fair logo has been circulating -- and disproved -- since 2016.

The Iowa State Fair Marketing Department commented in 2016, "The Iowa State Fair has a trademarked Iowa State Fair branding box logo that has been in place since 2005 and we don't have any plans to change it."

The real logo is an orange rectangle with white lettering.

This fact brief is responsive to conversations such as this one.
