Did Kristi Noem’s comments after an ICE agent killed a Minneapolis woman lead to the agent’s identification?

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said after an ICE agent killed a Minneapolis woman that the agent had been dragged by a vehicle in June, which helped media outlets identify the shooter as Jonathan Ross. 

Homeland Security provided further detail on the dragging incident, during which Ross punched through a vehicle window in Bloomington and was dragged off by the driver, Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala. ICE agents were detaining Munoz-Guatemala in connection to a sexual misconduct conviction, according to federal court records.

DHS refused to release Ross’ name, but the details from Noem and DHS led reporters to Munoz-Guatemala’s court case. Ross was identified as the victim in the case records.
