Did COVID-19 cases in India's Uttar Pradesh state drop dramatically 24 hours after implementing an ivermectin protocol?

By Ed Payne
NO

There's no evidence on India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website that India was in October of 2021 treating coronavirus patients with ivermectin. The drug was dropped from national guidance in June 2021, five months before an online article falsely claimed ivermectin had caused a dramatic drop in COVID-19 cases in India's most populous state, Uttar Pradesh.

On the website of the state Department of Medical Health & Family Welfare in Uttar Pradesh, there is similarly no evidence ivermectin is in use by that agency, either.

COVID-19 cases did plummet in Uttar Pradesh after peaking in late April 2021, but that didn't happen in 24 hours, as the online article claimed, and appeared to have had nothing to do with ivermectin.

The drop came as Uttar Pradesh and Indian health officials implemented a "Test-Track-Treat" protocol that included a national vaccination program.
