Did Colorado Gov. Polis cheer Trump’s nomination of RFK Jr. as US Health and Human Services secretary?
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said in a post on the social platform X that he was “excited” by President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine activist, to be secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Polis, a Democrat, said he supports Kennedy’s vision of capping drug prices and shares his view the FDA is not doing enough to promote healthy food or curb “pesticide-intensive agriculture.” The post saw 2.6 million views, 3,300 likes and over 10,000 reshares within two hours.
In a follow-up post, Polis said science must remain the cornerstone of public health while reaffirming his support for “a major shake-up” at the FDA. He added that he and his family are vaccinated and pledged to hold “any HHS secretary to the same high standard of protecting and improving public health.”
Cabinet nominees are typically confirmed by the Senate before they can serve in office.
