Did 14 million people vote for Biden in the 2024 primaries?

By Eric Neugeboren
YES

More than 14 million people voted for President Joe Biden in the 2024 Democratic primaries, months before he dropped his re-election bid.

Biden won all of the Democratic presidential primaries except for the 91-vote contest in American Samoa, securing nearly all of the country’s Democratic delegates.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), the Republican nominee for vice president, said at a Tuesday rally in Reno that Democrats’ campaign to convince Biden to leave the ticket constituted a “coup.”

Biden’s departure from the race last month did not violate party rules because he had not been officially nominated by party delegates at the Democratic National Convention.
