Are Hispanics and Latinos leaving the Democratic Party in Arizona?

no

Voting trends and registration estimates do not suggest Hispanic and Latino voters in Arizona are leaving the Democratic Party.

The Arizona Republic reported that the percentage of Latinos voting for the Democratic presidential candidate was four points higher in 2020 (63%) than 2016 (59%). Similarly, the percentage of Hispanics voting for the Democratic presidential candidate was five points higher in 2016 (61%) than 2008 (56%).

Univision reported that between 2018 and 2020, the number of Hispanic voters registering as Democrat doubled from 191,999 to 383,639.

According to a 2022 report by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, "Latinos are more likely to be Democrats than non-Latinos" and "less likely to be Republicans than the non-Latino electorate." NALEO estimated that 45% of Arizona's Latino electorate is Democratic while 15% is Republican.

Latino voters are reportedly more likely to be unaffiliated than the general population: NALEO estimated 40% of the electorate as "Other."
