Are antisemitic incidents at their highest recorded level in the US?

By Hanna Fahsholtz
YES

The Anti-Defamation League reported that 3,697 instances of antisemitic harassment, vandalism and assault occurred in the U.S. in 2022, the highest number recorded since ADL began tracking antisemitic incidents in 1979. Its annual audit compiles antisemitic incidents provided to ADL by victims, law enforcement, the media and partner organizations. From 2021 to 2022, antisemitic incidents increased by 36%.

ADL concluded that antisemitic attitudes in the U.S. are at their highest levels in decades, in part because of a surge of white supremacist antisemitic propaganda campaigns. The report also noted that “the antisemitism of the far-right and far-left are pushing into the mainstream of American culture and politics from both sides.”

Thirty antisemitic incidents were reported in Nevada in 2022. In 2021, Gov. Steve Sisolak signed a bill strengthening Holocaust and genocide education into state law, acknowledging a historic rise in antisemitism.
