Have electric vehicle registrations gone up in Nevada?
Nevada ranked among the top 10 states in the nation for electric vehicle (EV) ownership in 2026. In the past five years, EV registrations in the state have increased nearly 420 percent, making Nevada one of the fastest-growing electric vehicle markets in the country. As of May 2026, there are over 80,000 electric vehicles registered across all counties in Nevada, according to data from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.
Nevada is ranked as the sixth state overall when it comes to EV registrations, infrastructure, electricity cost and policy support.
The Nevada Department of Transportation plans to spend $38 million in federal funds on EV chargers across main travel routes and in rural areas, and support charging infrastructure in communities, workplaces and other public locations.
According to a report from Cox Automotive, electric vehicles make up 5.8 percent of all new-vehicle sales in the United States.
