Did young single women buy more houses than young single men between July 2024 and July 2025?
Young single women bought houses at nearly double the rate of their male counterparts between July 2024 and July 2025.
Among single people aged 18 to 26, women represented 35% of all homebuyers compared to 18% for men over the above time period, according to a survey by the National Association of Realtors. (The remaining 47% were married couples.)
The survey shows that single women of all ages represent more homeowners than single men. There are 20 million single women homeowners compared to 14 million single men homeowners.
When looking at overall home ownership of single people under 25, and not only homes bought between 2024 and 2025, men still led at 16.6% compared to 11.1% for women. Despite young single men still owning more homes, over the last decade, young women homeownership has significantly increased.
