Did any hurricanes make landfall in the United States last year?

There were no hurricanes that hit the continental United States during the 2025 storm season.

Hurricane season lasts from June 1 through Nov. 30. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke about last year’s diminished hurricane impact on the U.S. at a May 11 conference. He noted that this year’s hurricane season may see less activity, which is also backed up by the National Ocean and Atmospheric Association.

NOAA recently released an analysis of the 2026 hurricane season, predicting a 55% chance of below-normal storm activity.

The agency also predicted there could be anywhere from eight to 14 named storms, three to six hurricanes and one to three major hurricanes, which are those that reach a category 3 or higher.

However, experts say forecasts can be misleading and suggest people still prepare for what could be an unpredictable season.
