Did Nevada have one of the highest shares of youth turnout in the 2024 election?
Data analysis from Tufts University shows that Nevada had a 57 percent youth turnout rate in the 2024 election, placing it among the top 10 states in the country behind Michigan, Maine and Minnesota.
The analysis found that about 47 percent of young people participated in the 2024 election nationally, slightly lower than in 2020 but significantly higher than 2016.
Researchers defined youth turnout as young people aged 18 to 29 who cast ballots in the 2024 presidential election. They found on average that states where policies made it hardest to register and vote had the lowest voter turnout.
Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar’s (D) office recently launched a new website to continue encouraging younger voters to participate in the electoral process by promoting voter education and accessibility, hands-on learning opportunities and leadership development.
