Does child care cost an average of $1,000 per week in Nevada?
While child care is a significant financial burden, average costs aren’t as high as $1,000 per week in Nevada or any other state.
Child Care Aware of America, a child care advocacy organization, found that the annual price of infant child care in Nevada in 2024 was $12,659, slightly below the national average of $13,128. That’s approximately $243 per week.
A separate study by the Economic Policy Institute in 2023 put Nevada’s average annual cost of infant child care slightly higher, at $307 per week, but still well below the $1,000 threshold.
A median married couple with children in Nevada spent 11% of their income on child care in 2024, according to Child Care Aware.
In 2015, a memo submitted to state lawmakers reported the average annual cost of infant care in Nevada was $9,751, meaning average costs increased by 30% in the last decade.
