Has Planned Parenthood Arizona stopped accepting Medicaid patients?

On Oct. 1, 2025, Medicaid recipients lost access to services at Planned Parenthood Arizona’s seven state clinics, according to CEO April Donovan. In a Sept. 29 statement, Donovan cited “retribution and retaliation” from the Trump administration and its backers in explaining the decision to stop accepting Medicaid patients. 

The change means Arizonans with Medicaid can no longer rely on the clinics for reproductive health services, such as birth control and testing for sexually transmitted infections, or cancer screenings and treatment. 

While Planned Parenthood offers abortion services, a 2023 report found the majority of patients sought contraception or STI-related care. Abortion accounted for just 4% of all medical services provided by the clinics nationwide.
