Were COVID-19 infections trending up in Nevada in September 2025?
COVID-19 infections were trending down in Nevada in September 2025.
As of April 2024, hospitals in Nevada no longer report data on COVID infections to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But the CDC’s epidemic monitor assessed Nevada’s COVID-19 epidemic trend as “declining” as of Sept. 23, 2025.
The percentage of positive COVID tests in Nevada also showed a declining trend in September. For the week ending Sept. 6, approximately 20 percent of COVID tests returned positive. For the week ending Sept. 20, approximately 12 percent of COVID tests returned positive.
CDC data on wastewater — a potential tool for identifying infection spread — did show an increase in COVID viral activity in Nevada’s wastewater in September. As of Sept. 20, the CDC rated Nevada’s COVID wastewater activity as “very high.” However, not all of Nevada’s wastewater sites reliably updated their data in September.
