Were Colorado gun stores given 8 days to have their workers fingerprinted under a new law?

yes

Colorado gun stores were given an eight-day window in July to submit their employees’ fingerprints to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for background checks required under new state gun legislation.

Last year, Gov. Jared Polis signed House Bill 1353 into law, requiring gun dealers to obtain a state permit in addition to a federal firearms license in order to operate in Colorado. It also mandated criminal background checks once every three years for gun store employees. The law went into effect July 1.

A March 28 notice posted by the Colorado Firearms Dealer Division informed dealers they must submit employee fingerprints between July 1 and July 8, recommending workers schedule fingerprinting appointments as soon as possible.

Applicants were not able to be fingerprinted by background check vendors or law enforcement agencies until the law became effective, the CBI said.

State officials were unable to confirm how many stores met the deadline.
