Does Tim Michels oppose access to birth control?
In July 2022, ahead of the Republican primary for governor, Tim Michels clarified that he was not against birth control, including the emergency contraceptive known as Plan B.
Michels told USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio after two campaign stops in Green Bay and Eau Claire that while he is against abortion, "I am not against contraception."
Earlier that month, Michels' campaign did not respond to questions from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about whether Michels would sign legislation banning Plan B.
At an event in Calumet County, Michels told an attendee that "abortion pills that are being passed off as contraception" would be illegal in Wisconsin. A spokesperson said the question was referring to medication abortion, not Plan B.
