Is Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak donating his salary to schools?
During his 2018 gubernatorial campaign, Steve Sisolak committed to donating his take-home governor’s salary to education, and continuing until Nevada’s schools are “turned around.” With his most recent quarterly donation of $27,465, his contributions to public schools since taking office in January 2019 now total $347,000.
Sisolak is dividing the funds among the more than 300 Title I elementary, middle and high schools throughout Nevada. Title I is a federal designation for high-poverty schools based on the percentage of students who qualify for the free and reduced-price lunch program.
