Is it legal to buy a car on Sunday in Minnesota?

no

It is illegal to buy or sell a car on a Sunday in Minnesota.

Minnesota is one of 13 states that prohibit vehicle sales on Sundays. Per state law, the sale or purchase of a vehicle on a Sunday is a misdemeanor offense.

The primary reason for the law is to provide uniformity for car dealers across the state, according to Minnesota Automobile Dealers Association president Scott Lambert. He added that it gives employees a day of rest, which helps retain talent.

A pamphlet from the association suggests that allowing Sunday dealership hours would add millions of dollars in overhead costs without increasing sales. The same argument was used by opponents of Sunday liquor sales in Minnesota, but since Sunday alcohol sales were legalized in 2017, tax collections on alcohol have increased.

America has a history of “blue laws” banning Sunday activities in observance of the Christian sabbath.
