Has the Tony Evers administration repaired enough Wisconsin roads to reach from La Crosse to Miami and back?

By Hope Karnopp
YES

Since 2019 — when Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers took office — Wisconsin has improved more than 4,600 miles of highways and roads, according to the Department of Transportation's data from July.

The distance from La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Miami, Florida, is about 1,663 miles. The length of the road repairs in Wisconsin could stretch from La Crosse to Miami and back — and about three-quarters of the way to Miami again.

Wisconsin has so far received $57.5 million from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to repair roads and bridges under the bill passed in 2021.

Evers' campaign platform includes "improve Wisconsin's infrastructure" and "continue fixing the damn roads." Republican candidate Tim Michels, who co-owns a construction company that builds roads for the Wisconsin DOT, does not have a specific infrastructure blueprint on his campaign website.
