Has Fort Worth 'given up' on repairing potholes?

By Emily Wolf
NO

Fort Worth has set a goal of repairing reported potholes within 48 hours. Residents can report potholes on the MyFW app. City crews typically fill about 100 each day, according to the Transportation and Public Works Department.

However, the city does not repair potholes on state roads. Those are under the purview of the Texas Department of Transportation. Residents can report potholes on state roads using the "Report an issue" webpage. TxDOT does not have a repair-time goal comparable to Fort Worth's.

Fort Worth is not legally required to reimburse residents for pothole-related car damage, although it may compensate you if you're injured and prove it was due to city negligence.

Texas state code similarly "does not allow TxDOT to expend state funds for damage to property sustained from highway conditions," but personal injury claims may be submitted.
