Does CT have the highest flu rate in the Northeast in 2025?

Connecticut does not have the highest flu rate in the Northeast based on the latest available data, with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regional maps showing that only a limited number of jurisdictions nationwide fall into the high or very high categories.

As of the week ending Dec. 13, 2025, CDC influenza surveillance reports showed flu activity in Connecticut and Massachusetts classified as high. Meanwhile, Massachusetts, New York City, New York State and New Jersey had very high flu activity. Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont had lower levels of flu activity.

Further complicating the flu season is the fact that a new influenza virus strain renamed “H3N2 subclade K,” which is circulating widely today, was identified by health organizations months after the seasonal influenza vaccine was developed.

State and federal health officials note that flu season is still developing, meaning activity levels may change in the coming weeks.
