Does the city of Fort Worth require a specific turn radius for cul-de-sacs?
The city of Fort Worth has size minimums on cul-de-sacs, areas at the end of a road allowing space for vehicles to turn around.
On public and private streets, cul-de-sacs must have at least 40 feet of space between the center and any paved surface, ending at the front face of a curb.
The right-of-way radius extends an extra 10 feet from the paved surface requirement. This includes features like nature strips for sidewalks that extend beyond the paved surface.
Fort Worth also designates zones beyond private and public streets as needing more space for cul-de-sacs. The paved radius requirement for these zones is 50 feet, while the right-of-way zone is 60 feet. These extra zones include anything outside of residential streets, allowing for semitrucks and other oversized vehicles to use a cul-de-sac.
