Do some South Dakota cities have an official flag?

yes

Several South Dakota communities have official flags representing their cities.

Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Aberdeen are among the communities that have official flags.

The Rapid City Journal reported in 2018 that the North American Vexillological Association, which tracks flag designs, rated the city’s previous flag as 148th out of 150 in the country. The new design features Mount Rushmore.

Adopted in 2018, the Sioux Falls flag features descending white lines representing Falls Park, with a pinkish-red color recalling the Sioux quartzite that was used in many historic buildings. Brandon’s flag features a sun in the corner, a blue sky and orange and blue that represent pride in the school and community.

Aberdeen’s official flag is blue with the city symbol in the center, though there’s also a “community” flag with a star in the center.

At least seven other South Dakota cities have flags, according to CRWFlags.com.
