Did the Wisconsin Legislature’s 2020 election integrity probe find evidence of widespread voter fraud?

A judge has found that the Republican-led, taxpayer-funded investigation of the 2020 election did not find widespread voter fraud.

The probe found “absolutely no evidence of election fraud," according to one Dane County judge. That same judge also found Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and former Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, hired to lead the investigation, in contempt for failing to turn over records related to the election probe.

The Legislature's probe lasted more than a year, until Vos fired Gableman Aug. 12 and withdrew outstanding subpoenas. It is estimated that the Legislature's investigation and related legal expenses cost taxpayers more than $1 million.

Reports and reviews by the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau, The Associated Press, the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and post-election partial recounts in Dane and Milwaukee counties found no widespread fraud and confirmed Joe Biden's win in Wisconsin.
