Did the St. Paul Downtown Airport expand operations in 2024?
In 2024, the St. Paul Downtown Airport increased its operations by 11% year over year, seeing 42,476 takeoffs and landings, according to a recent report by the Metropolitan Airports Commission.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission reported a 1% increase in flights overall at its six airports, from 370,509 in 2023 to 372,609 in 2024.
Over the past six years, the commission has invested more than $50 million in safety and modernization projects at general aviation airports. These projects include constructing new runways, installing new lighting, enhancing navigation systems and completing other infrastructure improvements.
This year, $37.5 million is being invested for projects at the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s six reliever airports. For St. Paul Downtown Airport, this includes the rehabilitation of its primary runway and the construction of a new international arrivals facility for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
