Did Nevada send all registered voters mail-in ballots for the 2020 election regardless of whether they requested it?

By Esther Tsvayg
YES

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Nevada implemented an emergency measure that issued mail-in ballots to all registered voters. Assembly Bill 4, passed during the 32nd special session of the Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Steve Sisolak in August 2020, declared the 2020 general election an “affected election” and established a procedure for universally issuing ballots to all registered voters. Nevada was one of 13 states that implemented emergency measures in 2020 that automatically sent mail ballots to all active registered voters statewide.
AB4 was passed with 13 votes in support of the bill and 8 against it in the Nevada Senate, and 29 votes in support of the bill and 12 against it in the Nevada Assembly. In 2021, Governor Sisolak passed Assembly Bill 321, mandating that all active registered voters are automatically sent a mail-in ballot before primary and general elections.
