Did Steve Sisolak give Clark County teachers their first pay raise in a decade?

By Todd Butterworth
NO

The approximately 18,000 teachers in the Clark County School District, Nevada’s largest school district and fifth largest in the nation, received pay raises in both 2016 and 2018, before Sisolak signed legislation in 2019 allocating money for 3% teacher pay raises.

In 2016, a new teacher contract provided four pay increases to all teachers in CCSD over a nine-month period and increased starting teacher pay by about 15%. In 2018, an arbitrator settled a CCSD teacher contract dispute, resulting in $38.5 million in additional pay and health benefits for teachers.

In the 2020-21 school year, the average annual pay for Nevada teachers was $58,167, versus the national average of $65,090.
