The National Weather Service recorded measurable rainfall in Maine on 11 consecutive Saturdays, with a 12th potentially on the way.

The first rainy Saturday in the ongoing series was March 29, when the National Weather Service’s Gray office reported 0.41 inches of rainfall in Portland, 0.18 inches in Augusta and 0.37 inches in Gray.

The office reported measurable rainfall in Portland and Gray on every Saturday since: April 5, 12, 19 and 26; May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31; and June 7. (Augusta recorded rain each Saturday but May 31.)

May was particularly rainy, with Portland receiving 6.61 inches — nearly double the average of 3.67. The 2.32 inches measured May 10 set a record for that date.

On Wednesday, the weather service forecast a 80% chance of rain Saturday in York and Cumberland counties, which would make 12 rainy Saturdays in a row.
