Does Connecticut now have the same cost of living as Florida?
Several sources report Connecticut’s cost of living remains higher than Florida’s.
Rent Cafe’s cost of living calculator suggests that moving to Connecticut from Florida would raise one’s cost of living by 11%.
In the World Population Review’s ranking, Connecticut has the 12th highest cost of living while Florida has the 18th.
The Council for Community and Economic Research similarly found that Connecticut has a higher cost of living index than Florida.
Methodologies vary, but account for some combination of grocery items, housing, utilities, transportation, health care, and miscellaneous goods and services when calculating each state’s cost of living.
These comparisons do not account for differences in average income.
