The average salary of a confidential informant in Nevada is $85,327 per year, according to ZipRecruiter, whose salary estimates are derived from employer job postings and third-party data sources. This salary is above the national average of $84,288 for informants and the fifth highest among states. Tennessee had the highest annual salary at $88,433, while Georgia paid confidential informants the least at $60,253.

Confidential informants provide information to law enforcement agencies about criminal activities, such as organized crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, white collar crime, theft, gang violence and cyber crime. Though the pay is appealing, confidential informants must submit to police monitoring and searches and subject themselves to the inherent dangers of working with criminals.

From 2010 to 2018, confidential informants received a total of $548 million from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to Forbes.
