Are Colorado’s vote-counting machines inaccurate?

Annual audits for the past six years show that Colorado vote-counting systems had an accuracy of over 99.99%.Audits covered general and local elections and reviewed more than 1 million votes cast by Coloradans from 2019-2024. The testing found a single vote during the 2024 general election was incorrectly tallied by Colorado voting systems.

Voters in Colorado can submit their ballot in-person or by mail, which requires a signature matching state records, and can check the status of their ballot on the BallotTrax website. Voters are alerted via text if a mail-in ballot with a suspicious signature is submitted in their name.

Ballots are counted using voting systems in every county except San Juan County, which hand-counts ballots. Voting systems go through public, bipartisan verification before each election. Contested elections are subject to an audit that must be completed before the election results are finalized.
