Are Arizona candidates living outside newly redrawn districts still eligible to run in those districts?
Candidates do not need to live in the same congressional district they are running to represent, but they do need to live in the state. These qualifications are outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
In the newest congressional map of Arizona, there are nine districts: two Democratic-leaning seats, six Republican-leaning seats and one highly competitive seat, according to election pollster FiveThirtyEight. Compared to the old map, there is one fewer Democratic-leaning seat and one additional Republican-leaning seat.
When districts are redrawn, candidates do not have to move.
