Is Oklahoma considering a law that would ban lab-grown meat?

yes

House Bill 2829, passed by the House of Representatives on March 25th, would make it a misdemeanor to manufacture, sell, hold, or distribute any cultivated meat product.

Food sellers found in violation of this proposed law may face the suspension or revocation of their licenses.

The bill exempts any research conducted by governmental entities or institutes of higher education and grants the State Department of Health the capacity to adopt rules necessary for its enforcement.

The bill is being considered by the Senate and was referred to Agriculture and Wildlife for Second Reading on April 1. It has an effective date of November 1.

Three states have passed laws banning cultivated meat so far; Florida and Alabama were the first two in May of 2024, and Mississippi followed suit this past March.
