Are traffic fatalities rising in Nevada?

Annual traffic fatalities in Nevada grew 45% across the last decade, according to a new report from A National Transportation Research Nonprofit, or TRIP.

The number of fatalities in 2014 was 290, and in 2024 that number rose to 420.

This upward trend is also reflected in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data that shows a rise in Nevada traffic fatalities from 2019 to 2023.

There was also an increase in the rate of fatalities, which accounts for more driving happening in Nevada. There were nearly 1.5 fatalities for every 100 million vehicle miles traveled in 2024, which is up 30 percent from a decade ago.

TRIP categorized Nevada as the sixth most dangerous state to drive in.
