Is Scottsdale Unified hosting a girls’ cycling course open to students assigned male at birth?

Scottsdale Unified School District is hosting a girls’ cycling program for ages 5 to 10 that offers nonbinary students, including those assigned male at birth, the opportunity to participate. The eight-week course is being held at two district schools through a partnership with Girls in Gear, a nonprofit organization that promotes cycling-based, confidence-building programs for “girls, nonbinary youth, and gender expansive youth.”  

School-based programs often include nonbinary and transgender students in gender-specific activities to ensure equal access and prevent discrimination under federal civil rights law.
